Jill Mao

Jill is studying her Master’s degree in educational sciences at the University of Hamburg. Currently she is working on her thesis that focusses on (lifelong) learning in and with virtual and augmented reality. She joined the team during PLAY16 and has been a part of the festival ever since. This year she is directing the Festival HQ and will be taking good care of all guests and speakers of PLAY17.

She got in touch with video games very early in her childhood. Only after joining PLAY and other projects of the Initiative Creative Gaming has she invest more time the media pedagogical possibilities of games. After “Pokémon” and “Street Fighter” she likes to engage herself in all games that encourage her to reflect the medium. The only exceptions are horror games, which make her stomach churn.
